Annual Event Highlights Vehicles From The Dawn Of Motoring To Modern Day…

A total of 54 historic vehicles took center stage at the recent Heveningham Hall Concours d’Elegance, held on the grounds of the 5,000-acre Georgian estate in the heart of Suffolk, England. The oldest vehicle on display was an 1886 Benz Patent Motorwagen, while the newest was a 2016 Aston Martin 6C Vulcan.

The exhibition also featured a McLaren exhibit showcasing seven iconic F1 Grand Prix cars courtesy of the British Formula One Racing Team. Additionally, to mark the 70^th anniversary of Porsche, there were a number of pristine models on display, including a 1960 356B Super 90 GT, a 1968 Porsche 910; a 1974 Porsche 911 RS, and a 2010 Porsche 918 Spyder. And for enthusiasts of vintage aircraft, the aviation concourse included such early-day examples as a 1944 Spitfire Mk XI, a 1942 Texan AT6-D and a 1952 Morane-Saulnier 315.

“Our third concours attracted entrants from far and wide, including the United States and the list of exhibitors (was) extremely varied,” said Max Hunt, chairman of judges. “During this, the 70^th anniversary of Porsche, we (were) also really pleased to have so many of Stuttgart’s finest on display.” www.heveninghamconcours.com

Organization Teams Up With Promedia Group…

According to a recent announcement, The International Car Wash Association (ICA) has entered into a new partnership agreement with Promedia Group (PMG), the publisher to CarwashPro.nl and producer to several trade events in Europe. The agreement calls for PMG to become the marketer and organizer of Car Wash Show Europe™ beginning in 2019, while ICA will continue to market its event in North America.

Historic Sports Cars to Run 30-Minute Race On Grand Prix Circuit…

At the invitation of Brands Hatch owner MSV, Equipe Classic Racing, which organizes the popular Equipe GTS and Pre-’63 series for historic sports cars, is to run a 30-minute support race on the venue’s Grand Prix Circuit during the British GT Championship meet on August 4.Though now rarely used, Brands Hatch’s 2.43-mile-long Grand Prix circuit was the scene of many titanic battles when hosting the British Grand Prix biannually between1964-1986.

Holding modern and historic races on the same day will be a treat for spectators, and a rare opportunity for drivers of older cars to test their mettle on one of Europe’s finest racetracks, said the organizers. “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to field a strong historic grid with close, competitive racing at one of the country’s top modern racing meetings,” said John Pearson, Equipe Classic Racing partner. “Many regard the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit as the Holy Grail of racetracks, and we are very much looking forward to some tremendous racing.” www.brandshatch.co.uk.

Recognizing Early Signs Of Road Rage Key To Driver Safety…

GEM Motoring Assist is encouraging drivers to protect themselves by being alert to early signs of road rage The warning follows release of a dash cam video, which appeared to show an angry driver pushing another motorist’s vehicle and causing a high-speed crash.

In light of this, GEM has identified a few steps taken from its “Courtesy on the Road” leaflet that may help to reduce the risk of becoming a target of someone else’s aggression. Key among the steps: Keep calm and show restraint; avoid competition and the desire to get even; refrain from cutting into a line of traffic; move away from trouble—keep car doors locked, use mobile phone to alert authorities—and say thank you, say sorry, if you make a mistake—courtesy encourages cooperation.
